Mattress FAQ
Is there a mattress that helps me out of bed?
Yes! The EZ Lift Bed Deluxe is both an adjustable base and a lift chair. The EZ Lift Bed can lay flat, in zero gravity, sit up, and stand you up out of the bed. This bed can be beneficial for space restrictions in a Senior Living Home, small bedroom, or apartment because it is both a chair and bed.
It has additional functions on it’s easy to use hand control to help with stretching muscles and promote activity if the user is experiencing long term bed use.
The EZ Lift Bed is exclusive to Easy Chair Plus in the Treasure Valley.
How do I pick a mattress?
1. Lay down on any mattress that is either plush or firm. This will determine which route you take next!
(Note: Determine if the mattress meets your needs by laying on it normally. Edge support systems provide structure so it will feel different from the rest of the mattress.)
2. Based off how much you liked the firmness of that first mattress; decide if you would want it to be softer or firmer.
3. Spend as much time relaxed in your typical sleeping position. If you have multiple, make sure to check each one. Is it relieving pressure points? Would you be excited to sleep on this mattress tonight?
4. Once you have found 2 or less mattresses that fit your firmness style; figure out if that mattress fits within your budget. Think about longevity in relation to the price. Don’t underestimate your body’s needs, but don’t break the bank!
Which type of mattress is best for sleeping on?
A mattress that fits your needs is the best mattress for you. The systems throughout the mattress need to match your body’s needs and your budget.
Mattresses contain different layers and amounts to help with your needs. Make sure the layers work for your body!
Does a Firm Mattress have more support?
Sometimes! The support system inside of the mattress is what determines the mattress support. This can include coils, foam firmness, air chambers, and more. Comfort will always depend on the user’s body. So if you prefer a brick or a cloud; just make sure support systems inside are adequate!
Which mattress is best for cooling?
Mattresses have tons of different cooling mechanisms. So it depends on your budget, the material/layer, and the amount of layers. Here are some different cooling materials to consider.
- Talalay Latex: This Latex is infused with metals to draw heat and has proteins removed to keep buoyancy and make it hypoallergenic. American Bedding Rose Gold and Instant Comfort Premiere+ have Talalay.
- Energex Foam: Foam created by Instant Comfort. It expands to warmth to create breathability and compresses itself if it becomes too cold to trap heat. This high end foam is referred to as Temperature Control rather than cooling. Instant Comfort Legacy Opulence and Premiere+ have Energex available at Easy Chair Plus.
- Gel Memory Foam: Often immediately cool to the touch and based on it’s quality level will determine how cool it stays throughout the night. Williams Co St James, Bed Tech Copper Hybrid Gel Max and Sleeptone Comfort Series have gel foam layers.
- Graphite: Graphite infused foam typically is made for structure, breathability, and or cooling. The Sleeptone Green Tea mattress has Graphite and Green Tea fibers infused memory foam.
- Natural Wool: Found in high-end naturally made mattresses the wool material uses it’s own fibers to draw heat and increase breathability for the cooling feel. Williams Co St James Natural Mattress uses Natural Wool Covers found at Easy Chair Plus.
- Eucalyptus: These fibers are often infused into sheets or covers rather than foam to help with cooling. Sleeptone Eucalyptus Sheets are available at Easy Chair.
- Bamboo: Covers and sheets will use bamboo fibers to help with cooling. The bamboo fibers are hollow so it draws heat through those channels. Warning: Low end mattresses and covers use a minuscule amount of bamboo to claim it is cooling as a gimmick. Low end sheets often feel scratchy.
Can I reuse my box springs?
We do not recommend reusing your old box springs. They are more than likely broken down and will offer your new mattress a subpar foundation. This can lead to pressure points and or pain.
Additionally, they often hold onto odor, dead skin cells, and or dried bodily fluids.
Platform bases and adjustable bases are available at Easy Chair.
Should I get a platform or adjustable base?
Benefits of an Adjustable Base:
- Helps relieve pressure in your neck, back, hips, and legs.
- Raising your legs can help with poor blood flow, Neuropathy, and swelling.
- During congestion or sickness, raising your head can reduce build up and promote air flow overnight for better sleep.
- Depending on your condition, it can help reduce snoring.
- Allows you to sit up in bed without using extra pillows.
- You can adjust the height of the base’s legs to make it easier to get in and out of bed.
Benefits of a Platform Base:
- Significantly reduced build up compared to box springs.
- Provides a better foundation than box springs for your new mattress to support you.
- You can adjust the height of the legs to make it easier to get in and out of bed.
Can a mattress use an adustable base?
Yes. All mattresses at Easy Chair Plus are compatible with adjustable bases.
Should I get a mattress with Air Chambers or Coils?
Big Shocker: It depends on what your needs are.
Do you feel being able to adjust the firmness at any time is beneficial for you?
Fun fact: Instant Comfort Premiere+ has coils and air chambers!
Are there Adjustable firmness mattresses without Air Chambers?
Yes! Try the Sleeptone 2-in-1 Hybrid Mattress or the Williams Co St. James Natural Mattress at Easy Chair Plus. Both of these mattresses have the ability to adjust the firmness level without Air Chambers.
Unzip the mattress cover and reposition the foam layers (for Sleeptone) or flip the encased coils (for Williams Co).
Do Air Chamber Mattresses leak?
Instant Comfort has reported little to no issues with air leaking from their mattresses or air pumps. They use high quality seals, o-rings, and plugs to ensure a more efficient anti-leak system.
Other brands that we do not carry have sometimes reported issues with air leaks.
